May 2, 2013 will go down in history as a day where Minnesota experienced a narrow-banded snowstorm that closed schools and dropped 18 inches of snow in an area that stretched from Owatonna in the south part of the state, through northwest Wisconsin up to Lake Superior.
But the day will also be a unique day to remember for Kathryn Paradise, co-owner of Salon Spatoria in Victoria. For out of the blue, Kathryn received a BlessBack.
As I sat down in Kathryn’s styling chair, to my left, on the mirror, I saw a promotion, advertising buy-one-get-one-free in haircare products. Kathryn and her co-owners are thoughtful that way, passing on their appreciation to their clients whenever they can.
I smelled the distinct fragrance of lilies and noticed the huge bouquet of flowers on the shelf beneath the mirror. “Did your husband send you those?” I asked.
“No,” she smiled. “A client did.”
She showed me the card with Snoopy doing his happy dance on the front. Inside it said, “Dear Kathryn, I absolutely love what you do to my hair! You are the best and Salon Spatoria ROCKS! Special thanks to you from…”
I’m guessing that this client didn’t know Kathryn’s hectic schedule. Besides managing a salon, she has a son’s birthday dinner to make, a high school graduation party to do, a college decision for a son to make, a hockey decision for a son to make, a rehearsal dinner to give and another son’s wedding to host on June 1. I love that Kathryn’s client spontaneously decided to give Kathryn a good day by expressing her thanks to her in such an aromatic and memorable way.
Little things done with big love. That’s how Mother Teresa put it. They matter so much, don’t they?
