Doesn’t everyone need a pick-me-up now and then?
I have a friend who is as crazy about everything English as I am.Her name is Gail and she lives in Baldwin, Wisconsin. Like me, she is a writer. She’s currently at work on a novel that I cannot wait for her to finish because the premise is adorable and yes, has much to do with England. She blogs as much as possible about all things about the big island.
Anyway, Gail is one of the most caring people I know and she loves to surprise people with her letters. Yesterday, a dreary November day, I received one of her letters. An editor would hate these letters for they are filled with whimsy and happy exclamation points.
(Yes, there is such a thing. Gail decorates her commas and semicolons too.) In this particular letter, pictures and stickers of the Queen Mother and a telephone booth invited themselves to the letter party, as did a peek-a-boo “Believe” sticker, prompting me to open its little swing door for further instruction.
Gail’s letters are the kind you’ll keep forever and reopen, read, and feel good afterwards – about life and the gift of friendship. Thank you, Gail, for your timely and lovely letter. It meant the world to me. On just the right day, too.
Are you a note writer? What kinds of things do you enclose in your envelopes? Found this blog today via Pinterest. Without plagiarizing another’s blog post, please click the link. The letter is precious and creatively done. How can one resist becoming her penpal?
If you’re in need a pick-me-up letter from someone, leave a comment and you might just be the one who receives something from me in the mail.
With gratitude,
Julie

Oh my, but I’m in love — with your blog. It is so visually appealing — the layout, the colors, the images, etc, etc. Beautiful! And, of course, I love your post as well. 🙂 I spent the Spring 2014 semester in England as my college’s mentor to 11 exchange students. We were in Canterbury, but every Friday the college there had “excursions” planned (some lasted the whole weekend) — Stonehenge, Oxford, Bruge (Belgium), etc. I never thought I’d travel to Europe (long story), so it was such a blessing, and at a time in my life when I desperately needed it. I was able to backpack through 7 countries by rail for 10 days. It was the experience of my lifetime . . . so far. 🙂 I’m glad I “met” you through 365 S group and to have been led to your blog.
